TUM GNI Director Prof. Ian Smith hosted the "AI for a Sustainable Built World" session at the Future of Construction Symposium on 13th September 2023, delivering a keynote that highlighted the potential of AI in achieving sustainable urban development.
During the session TUM GNI PhD researcher José Quesada Allerhand explored "Measurements for improving energy-performance impact of building retrofits," promising advancements in sustainable building upgrades for existing building stock. His college Klara Santa presented her work on "Human-Centered Intelligent User Interfaces for the Built World," emphasizing the potentials in using AI to detect user traits, define user models, and adapt interfaces accordingly. Dafydd Cotoarbă showcased work on "Probabilistic Digital Twins for GeoTech," merging digital models and geotechnical data to support decision making, while Andre Li presented his poster on "Enhancing Explanation to Improve Building-Design Support," enhancing the explainability of architectural design decisions.
