Module Research
Traditionally, research manifests itself through the publication and discussion of current research results in the specialist community. This takes the form of articles or contributions published in journals or conference proceedings, for example. Another way is through lectures or poster presentations at conferences or symposia.
In addition, the latter make it possible to establish new contacts in order to advance one's own research within the framework of collaborations. Collaboration with partners is promoted in particular through workshops and longer stays with partners. Seasonal schools enable young researchers to easily expand their own knowledge and make new contacts at the same time.
Another element in advancing your own research is the acquisition of knowledge in advanced research techniques. In particular, they are the cornerstone of effective doctoral work, as they provide the tools needed to conduct rigorous, credible research.
In the MDSI Doctoral Training Program, a wide variety of activities are recognized under the Research module. These include, for example
- Publications
- Conference visits and talks, poster presentations
- Stays abroad
- Courses on advanced research techniques.
Advanced Research Techniques for Data Scientists
To efficiently navigate complex data, gain meaningful insights, and contribute original knowledge to their field, researchers need in-depth knowledge of advanced research techniques. By mastering these methods, doctoral students position themselves for academic excellence and long-term success in research-oriented careers.
On this topic, MDSI offers workshops in the broader field of data management:
- Objectives of research data management
- Guidelines for research data
- Data management plans
- Data structuring and storage
- Metadata and metadata standards
- Long-term storage, file formats
- Publication of data, persistent identifiers
