What do German universities think about the use of AI? Dr. Alexander Braun made it clear that TUM takes a very positive view of the topic and aims to support both students and employees in the use of AI. For him, it is crucial that both groups are able to critically assess and evaluate AI as a tool. In his eyes, it is the university's task to convey this understanding. One milestone is the development of TUM's own chatbot, which supports students in their studies, for example, in a very flexible way.
However, it is also clear that the use of AI tools will bring many changes to university life. Exam formats will have to be adapted and assignments rethought. The core objectives of final theses will remain the same as before but might become more prominent again: generating new knowledge and working on new open questions. The meaning and value of science will remain the same: it will continue to be of great importance.
