This Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Women in Data Science (WiDS) Munich Conference brought together a vibrant community of researchers, professionals, and students for a day filled with compelling talks, insightful panels, and meaningful connections. Hosted by Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), the event celebrated the power of data science to drive social change and empower women in tech.
Highlights included MDSI Core Member Prof. Enkelejda Kasneci’s keynote on using AI to support socially disadvantaged children, and further talks on the human-AI-interaction, uncertainty in machine learning, and the methods of data journalists, as well as two engaging panels tackling pressing topics: navigating evidence in polarized environments and transitioning into data science careers, featuring voices from academia, journalism, and industry.
The day was completed with several opportunities for networking among the participants and with guests from academia and industry. Colleagues from TUM Graduate Centers and the Konrad Zuse School relAI showed ways to earn a PhD in an academic environment, while industry partners provided insights into their career opportunities.
Thank you to all speakers, guests, and fellow organizers for making WiDS Munich 2025 an unforgettable experience!
