About Oindrila:
Oindrila has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree (2011) from Jadavpur University, India, and Master of Structural Engineering degree (2013) from the Indian Institute of Science. Funded by the MHRD scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, she completed her doctoral degree from IISc in 2018. Her Ph.D. thesis, titled "Structural reliability estimation using Markov chain splitting and Girsanov’s transformation-based methods", focused on the development of specialized advanced Monte Carlo sampling strategies for the safety assessment of engineering structures under time-varying loads, such as seismic excitation or wind. Oindrila was awarded the best Ph.D. thesis award of the Indian Institute of Science for her doctoral research.
Oindrila started her post-doctoral career as a researcher (between Feb-Jul 2019) in the Methods of Machine Learning Group at the University of Tübingen, Germany. From Oct 2019-Sep 2023, she was a post-doctoral researcher in the Engineering Risk Analysis Group at the Technical University of Munich. Oindrila’s current research broadly focuses on uncertainty quantification for performance analyses of the built environment. In particular, she develops advanced computational methods for risk and reliability assessment of structures, data-based inference, and design optimization under uncertainty.
Oindrila has held visiting researcher positions at TU Delft (Apr-Jul 2023) and Paris-Saclay University (Oct-Dec 2023). She is the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship from the AvH Foundation, the short-term post-doc research grant from DAAD, and the BayIntAn grant from BayFOR for international research cooperation.
